Amsterdam

Having a blast in Amsterdam. I hit the ground running when I arrived yesterday. I went to the Van Gogh museum, Riijks museum, Anne Frank House & went on a tour of the Red Light District. I also walked all over the city and was really able to explore. The Van Gogh museum was very impressive. I thought the Riijks museum was okay. If I was more into Dutch art I would have liked it better. The Rembrandt paintings were wonderful to see, especially famous The Night Watch which is HUGE. I really enjoyed seeing the Anne Frank House. Being able to walk into the hidden apt they called home for so long was fascinating. It is so small and with the windows blacked out very depressing. The Red Light District Tour was very interesting. What an experience!! Our guide was great and very informative. The ladies who work in the windows make about €500 per day and rent the windows for only €75-€150 per day. Pretty nice profit if you like the work. ;)
Right now I am at the Russell Amsterdam offices. They were very kind to let me use one of their computers. Next I am going to the floating flower market and then to a windmill/brewery. What better combination could you ask for...not just a windmill but a windmill + brewery. Several friends will be very proud of me...when I had dinner last night I drank Amstel Light. Granted there was no Bud Light on the menu but even still I am trying to branch out on this trip.
Tomorrow I head out via train to Bruges. I will be "In Bruges" on Tuesday and then head to Brussels on Wednesday. Thursday I will meet up with Becca & Wes in Luxembourg.
I will write more later! Miss everyone back in the states & those in Bitburg (who I will see very soon).
